It can be easy for the nervous system to live in a constant state of vigilance — scrolling, absorbing, reacting. While staying informed matters, so does tending to what we allow to take root in our minds and hearts.

One of the simplest ways to rebalance that inner landscape is through gratitude — not the forced, “everything is fine” kind, but the honest remembering of people who have shaped us, steadied us, or helped us become who we are.

Research suggests that intentionally reflecting on gratitude can help shift attention away from threat-focused thinking and support resilience, mood, and connection. In other words, what we practice noticing begins to influence how we feel. Writing a letter of gratitude is a quiet but powerful way to interrupt the cycle of discouraging news and reconnect with something deeply human.

That’s why I created Letters of Gratitude — a space to slow down, put pen to paper, and remember together. You don’t need to be a writer, and you don’t need to have the “perfect” person in mind yet. Just bring curiosity and a willingness to pause.
